Microsoft has advised that coverage is already at very high levels thanks to Vista and most drivers that work in Vista are going to work in Windows 7. Most manufacturers will also release Windows 7 drivers for their newer products.

No, there is no upgrade path from Windows XP. You must upgrade to Vista first then upgrade to Windows 7 or format your system and install a fresh copy of Windows 7.

Note: Some product features of Windows 7 such as the ability to watch and record live TV or touch screen navigation may require advanced or additional hardware.

When you purchase a computer by a participating computer manufacturer that is preloaded with Windows Vista® Home Premium, Windows Vista® Business, or Windows Vista® Ultimate, you may be eligible to upgrade to a corresponding edition of Windows® 7. Yes. Qualifying editions of Windows Vista that were downgraded to Windows XP are eligible for upgrade. Note that upgrading from a downgraded version of Windows Vista requires you to either Upgrade back to your original Windows Vista edition using recovery media that came with your PC and then perform an upgrade to Windows 7 in order to retain installed applications and settings or Upgrade from Windows XP downgrade directly to Windows 7 by doing a clean installation of Windows 7 (Please note you will lose access to previously installed applications and settings using this method)
